In a major success for Ranchi Police, the arrest of an inter-district gang involved in broad daylight thefts has brought relief to residents. The gang's criminal activities spanned several areas, including Pithoria.
The arrested criminals, comprising mastermind Mohammad Saad, Mohammad Faizan Alam, Mohit Kumar, Pankaj, and jeweler Sheikh Anwar, have confessed to their involvement in theft incidents in Pithoria, Anagada, Airport, Jagannathpur police station, BIT Mesra, and Lower Bazaar police station areas.
The gang used the stolen money to purchase a car and a bike which has been seized by the police. Police has also confiscated Rs 2 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewelry. Notably, jeweler Sheikh Anwar is facing charges related to the embezzlement of stolen jewelry.
Investigations into the gang's modus operandi revealed the involvement of Mohit Kumar and Pankaj, individuals with a criminal record conducted recce on bikes before executing thefts.
